Teeth at every age

Drag the pink ring to an age, or tap one. For you, your child or your parents.

3–12 yearsChild: milk teeth fall out

What to expect

  • Milk teeth start to fall out around age 6, and the adult teeth come in behind them.
  • The back milk teeth stay until about 10 to 12, so a cavity in them still matters.
  • Help with brushing until about age 8, with a pea-sized dab of fluoride toothpaste.

When to come

  • A check-up about every 6 months, or as the dentist advises.
  • Sooner for tooth pain, black spots, a swollen cheek, or a tooth hurt in a fall.

General guidance, not a diagnosis. The dentist will tell you what your teeth need.

What the clinic can help with

In everyday words. Each card shows which ages it usually matters for. The treatments are as listed for this clinic on Justdial; ask the clinic about anything not shown.

Tooth pain and root canal

Pain that throbs or wakes you up often means decay has reached the soft centre of the tooth. A root canal cleans out that inside part and seals it, so the tooth can stay.

Usually for: Child to senior

More about this

It usually takes one to three visits. You get a numbing injection first, so the treatment itself should not hurt. Afterwards a cap (crown) is often advised to protect the tooth. If your face is swollen or you have a fever with tooth pain, call the clinic the same day.

Check-up and cleaning

A look at every tooth and the gums, then a cleaning (scaling) that scrapes off tartar, the hard yellow layer a toothbrush can't remove.

Usually for: Every age

More about this

Most people need it every six months to a year. Cleaning can feel scratchy and the gums may bleed a little that day; that settles. It is the easiest way to catch small problems before they hurt.

Fillings in tooth colour

A small hole from decay is cleaned and filled with a material that matches your tooth, so nobody can see it.

Usually for: Child to senior

More about this

Usually done in one sitting. Catching a cavity while it is small means a small filling instead of a root canal later. Sensitivity to cold for a few days afterwards is common.

Bleeding gums

Gums that bleed when you brush are usually irritated by tartar along the gum line. A cleaning and better brushing between the teeth often fixes it.

Usually for: Teen to senior

More about this

Left alone, gum trouble can make teeth loose over the years. Bad breath and swollen, red gums are other signs. The dentist will show you how to clean between your teeth.

Removing a tooth

When a tooth is too broken or loose to save, or a wisdom tooth (the last tooth at the back) is stuck and hurting, it can be taken out after numbing.

Usually for: Child to senior

More about this

You bite on cotton for a while afterwards. Soft, cool food that day, and no spitting hard or smoking for a day or two. The dentist will tell you how to look after the spot.

Caps, bridges and dentures

A cap (crown) covers a weak tooth. A bridge fixes a false tooth to the teeth beside a gap. A denture is a set of false teeth you can take out.

Usually for: Adult and senior

More about this

These are made to measure, so they take two or more visits. Ask the clinic which one suits your mouth, and whether implants (a small post in the jaw that holds a new tooth) are done here.

Children's teeth

Check-ups for milk teeth, small fillings, and a look at how the adult teeth are coming in. A calm first visit makes the next ones easier.

Usually for: Baby and child

More about this

Tell the clinic when you book that it is for a child. Bring any medicines your child takes. If a milk tooth is wobbly but not hurting, it usually falls out on its own.

Parents' corner

बच्चों के दाँत, माता-पिता के सवाल।

Three things parents ask about most, answered simply.

Your child's first visit

  • Come around the first tooth, or by the first birthday.
  • Pick a time when your child is usually rested and fed.
  • Talk about it as a "teeth counting" visit, not a scary one.
  • Bring any medicines your child takes.
  • A young boy in pyjamas grinning as he brushes his teeth

    Brushing

From the first tooth, brush twice a day. A rice-grain smear of fluoride toothpaste under 3, a pea-sized dab from 3 to 6. Help until about 8, because small hands miss the back teeth.

  • A baby lying on a soft blanket with her fingers in her mouth

    Thumb-sucking

Normal for babies and toddlers, and most children stop on their own. If it carries on after the adult front teeth start coming in (around 5 or 6), ask the dentist, as it can push teeth forward.

  • A pile of colourful sugar-coated sweets

    Sweets

How often matters more than how much. Keep sweets, biscuits and sweet drinks to mealtimes, not all day, and never a bottle of milk or juice at bedtime. Water after a sweet helps.

Questions families ask

Which number should I call or WhatsApp?

094250 53654. It is the number on the clinic's Google listing and its WhatsApp number on Justdial.

Is the clinic open on Sundays and in the evening?

Google lists every day, 10 am to 2 pm and 6 to 11 pm. Other directories show shorter hours, and festivals can change things, so please call before you come.

Can I bring my baby or young child?

Yes, families are welcome. Mention the child's age when you call or book, so the clinic can plan the visit.

Are braces or implants done here?

The clinic's listings mention root canals, tooth-coloured fillings, gum treatment, caps and bridges, false teeth and tooth removal. For braces or implants, ask the clinic whether they are done here or where they would send you.

What does "root canal" actually mean?

Inside each tooth is a soft core with a nerve. When decay or a crack reaches it, it hurts. A root canal cleans out that core and seals the tooth, so you keep your own tooth instead of losing it.

Does the form book a fixed time?

No. It sends your request to the clinic by email. For a fixed time, or anything urgent, call 094250 53654.

What does it cost?

Fees depend on what your teeth need, so they are not listed here. Ask the clinic when you call or at the check-up.
